Quand j’étais à Londres avait lieu la Chelsea Flower Show. Arghhh tous les billets étaient déjà vendus le jour de l’ouverture ! Pour comprendre l’intérêt de l’événement, rendez-vous là : http://www.rhs.org.uk/
Bah dommage. Mais j’ai passé une excellente soirée au bar The Couch à Dean Street près de Oxford Street avec mes amis couchsurfeurs du monde entier. J’ai notamment fait la connaissance de Hamid de Paris, Marike d’Izmir, d’Eva d’Autriche et de Wojtek de Pologne. Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas le concept : on établit un profil, on indique si on peut héberger ou juste rencontrer et on peut surfer aussi sur les canapés d’autres membres à travers le monde. C’est pas cool ça ? Ca se passe sur http://www.couchsurfing.org/

Too bad. But I spent a great evening with my couchsurfing friends from allover the world at the bar The Couch, Dean Street close to Oxford Street. I met Hamid from Paris, Marike from Izmir, Eva from Austria and Wojtek from Poland. For those of you who don’t know the concept: you create a profile, you specify whether you can host or not or just meet and you can also surf on other people’s couch in the whole wide world. Je ne peux pas m’empêcher de penser que parfois la vie dans les grandes villes est comme un immense sas d’attente, attente du bonheur peut-être pas, mais de quelque chose d’extra-ordinaire sans être loufoque pour autant. On y a un avant-goût du possible.
Bags lying around
London sure is special, but the city shares one thing with other big cities: a lot of people are looking for each other in what often ends in missed encounters. At least that’s why thirty something Brits and foreigners I met in this or that pub lead me to believe. I can’t help but think that life in big cities is like a huge waiting area, where one doesn’t necessarily wait for happiness but for something extra-ordinary, not even crazy, to happen. Like a blue print of the possible.

Camden Town est malheureusement envahie par le made in China et ça devient dur de trouver des babioles originales. La décoration des façades reste délirante, mais les stands de nourriture servent tous plus ou moins la même chose peu importe la nationalité affichée. C’est assez déconcertant. Bon ça reste un super endroit si on cherche un déguisement de Tokyoite en fleur ou de baba cool. Peace man.
After a scenic bus trip from Camden to Notting Hill Gate, I landed in Picadilly Circus where I strolled over a church market near Fortnum and Mason.Camden Town has alas been invaded by the Made in China and it’s getting harder and harder to find original stuff. The decoration of the housefronts is still amazing but the food court serves more or less « one food suits all » regardless of the nationality promised on the signs. This is quite disturbing. Ok it’s still a great place to buy clothes if you’re into the Tokyo girl or the hippie look. Peace man.

I am going to London real soon. Did you know that they are into peacock feathers there (blue-green make-up, clothes etc…). So here’s a « photography » I took in a shop in Hawai’i. See the peacock pattern on the bird (haha) ? She’s a dance teacher I met there. We both drove the shop owner crazy trying on the dresses and taking pictures. That one was priced at 700US$ (you can always try to sell stuff for the weirdest prices in a tourist spot).
Yeah, any excuse will do to show my island pics! London I’m coming!
