Sans machette, nous nous avancions avec le désespoir de l’explorateur, qui sait le but proche, mais les moyens insuffisants (j’invente au fur et à mesure, donc j’espère que ça sonne cohérent par moments).
Without machetes, we went on with the dispair of the explorer, wrapped in the knowledge of the goal’s closeness and of the means’ inadequacies (I make this up as I go along, so I hope it sounds even remotely sane).

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir : A passage to India

On continue le périple londonien avec le fameux temple indien : BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. Un must, d’autant qu’il est gratuit. La boutique de souvenirs regorge de petites babioles kitsch comme je les aime ! Et l’accueil est excellent. Attention, restaurant végétarien, amis carnivores. Métro jusqu’à « Neasden », puis bus ou marche à pied.
Let’s continue our London journey with the famous Indian temple: BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. A must, and it’s free. The gift shop is filled with the kind of little kitschy things I love! And the staff is very friendly. Attention diners, the restaurant is vegetarian, so no carnivorous indulgence here. Take the tube to « Neasden » and take a bus or walk.

Docteur Who et le pavillon royal / Doctor Who and the Royal Pavilion

Excursion à Brighton samedi 30 juillet. Magnifique pavillon royal dans le style indien. Sinon la ville est charmante mais pas bouleversante non plus. Dimanche: promenade sur la rive sud de Londres, le long de la Tamise, mon coin préféré. La balade s’est terminée à Southwark Cathedral, près de London Bridge. J’ai rejoint quelques groupes sur Meetup, histoire de rencontrer des adultes qui s’intéressent à l’art, au cinéma, bref aux choses qui importent. Je regarde aussi assidument Doctor Who 2005. La BBC sait y faire, il n’y a pas à dire ! Je vous recommande cette série chaudement.
Trip to Brighton on Saturday, July 30th. Beautiful royal pavilion in the Indian style. Apart from that, the city is charming but not unforgettable. Sunday: stroll on the South bank along the Thames, my favorite corner. The walk ended at Southwark Cathedral, near London Bridge. I’ve also joined several groups on Meetup, ya know, to meet adults interested in art, films, smart stuff that matters. I’ve become addicted to Doctor Who 2005. The BBC really knows how to bake its cookies right, I’ll say! I really recommend this series.

Hyper Japan 2011 : Olympia 2

Devinez où je serai ce week-end. A Hyper Japan 2011. En effet, je vais voir si contrairement à Japan Expo à Paris, cet événement londonien est plus divers et si le Cosplay n’envahit pas tout. Bref, si on n’est pas envahi par le mimi, le kawai. Il ne s’agit pas de l’ignorer, car ça fait partie de la culture japonaise contemporaine, ça ne la résume pas, c’est tout. J’espère que le public est plus varié, côté âge et intérêts.
Guess where I’ll be this weekend. At Hyper Japan 2011. I hope the London event is much different from Japan Expo in Paris and that Cosplay doesn’t take over. Kawai can’t be and isn’t ignored, since it’s part of contemporary Japanese culture, but it doesn’t represent the whole country. Let’s see if Hyper Japan 2011 attracts visitors of all ages and of different interests.

Le stand du Japan Media Arts Festival présente 16 courts métrages à HYPER JAPAN 2011, sélectionné parmi les lauréats 2010. Les seize films seront projetés chaque jour, pendant toute la journée.
