J’ai reçu aujourd’hui 2 livres des éditions Topshelf pour rédiger un compte-rendu : « Welcome to Forest Island » et « Top Shelf Asks the Big Questions« . J’ai déjà feuilleté « Welcome to Forest Island » qui a des illustrations superbes. Donc prochainement vous lirez un compte rendu sur ce roman graphique et le recueil Topshelf.

I received today 2 books published by Topshelf to review : « Welcome to Forest Island » and « Top Shelf Asks the Big Questions« . I browsed through them and I can already tell you that the illustrations of « Welcome to Forest Island » are amazing. So keep coming to read my review of this book as well as of the Topshelf Collected Stories.

Heureux qui, comme Pénélope, a fait un beau voyage / A French Odyssey in Pumpkin Land

J’en profite pour vous parler de Pénélope Joliceur pour ma rubrique : Artistes que j’apprécie. Bon, j’apprécie surtout la Pénélope qui voyage (l’autre c’est celle qui parle du bureau et des copines). Cette série me rappelle mon voyage à Portland il y a un an. C’est une sacré ambiance à Halloween. Je me souviens du tas de citrouilles devant un supermarché où je faisais mes courses (on a du me demander 4 fois de m’inscrire sur les listes électorales pour pouvoir voter Obama):

Let’s talk about Pénélope Joliceur. What I like most is the traveling character (the other one is the office chick with friends). This series reminds me of my trip to Portland, Oregon, one year ago. What a Halloween atmosphere. I remember this pile of pumpkins in front of a supermarket where I used to shop (I’ve probably been asked 4 times by Obama suppporters if I was on the voting lists):

(Ouais sûr que je reçois 99% du prix de vente + un beignet. Je ne fais jamais rien à l’oeil)
Malheureusement il faut se faire envoyer chaque T-Shirt séparément, donc payer à chaque fois les frais de port. Un peu étrange comme concept. Ce ne sont pas des tableaux de grande valeur quand même !

Unfortunately the T-Shirts are shipped seperately, so you have to pay shipping costs for each T. That’s a weird concept. We’re not talking about precious paintings after all!

Emile Bravo

J’ai aussi acheté un album de cette parodie sucralose et sarcastique des contes de Grimm par Emile Bravo mais le perfide s’est évaporé donc hasta la vista mon dessin.

I also bought one album of this sucralose sarcastic parody of Grimm tales by Emile Bravo but the weasel disappeared so I couldn’t get a drawing.

Pfff j’ai l’album. Même pas grave.

J’ai assisté à une conférence sur Spirou avec Emile Bravo, Jose Luis Munuera et Lewis Trondheim pour ne citer qu’eux. Lewis Trondheim sera l’auteur du prochain Spirou: « Panique en atlantique ». Voici pour l’histoire: Lewis Trondheim s’était retrouvé avec le directeur général de Dupuis dans un canot pneumatique au large de Sainte Lucie. Et voilà pour la petite histoire.

I went to a conference on « Spirou » with Emile Bravo, Jose Luis Munuera and Lewis Trondheim (and others). Lewis Trondheim will author the next Spirou called « Panique en atlantique ». Here’s the story: Lewis Trondheim somehow got into a boat with the CEO of Dupuis (a European comics publisher) somewhere near Sainte Lucie. End of story.
