Une Affiche Japan Expo
Alors ça y est la Japan Expo (http://www.japan-expo.com) a lieu en ce moment à Villepinte. Kezako? Une sorte de réunion de geeks en mal d’adolescence avec une tentative de légitimation culturelle plutôt bizarre: « Japan Expo, dans son effort d’ouverture, met un point d’honneur à développer chaque culture venant du Japon, évitant le prosélytisme mais également la vulgarisation, en faisant le choix du juste milieu. »
Pour vous donner une idée de la « culture japonaise à la Japan Expo »:
Section Manga et Editeurs (création du Village Editeurs)
Section Culture traditionnelle (création du festival Azikult)
Section Jeux Vidéo (création du festival KultiGame)
Section Cosplay (création de la scène 100% Cosplay)
Section Cinéma et Film Amateur
Section Sports et Arts Martiaux
Section Musique (création de la J.E.’s Live House)
Section Mode (création du Village Jeunes Créateurs)
Alors je vous dis tout de suite que pour le cinéma, il faudra plus penser Bioman que Takeshi Kitano.
Et la section « culture traditionnelle » est franchement humoristique: « Des stands d’Origami aux incontournables démonstrations de Kimono… » et « Non loin de l’espace Arts Martiaux, cette zone à fort caractère évasif vous permettra de voyager au Japon sans que cela ne rime nécessairement avec Manga ou Karaoke ! » . Convaincus?
Je ne sais pas si vous avez vu les nombreuses vidéos de visiteurs du salon, mais la moyenne d’âge doit être de 15 ans.
Malheureusement cette disneylandisation du Japon est très fréquente hors de l’archipel et elle entretient une infantilisation dont on a du mal à cerner la créativité. Au moins les soirées Gloubiboulga avec Casimir, on ne nous les vend pas en prétendant qu’il s’agit de vitrines de la culture française !

Yeahhhh! It’s Japan Expo (http://www.japan-expo.com) in Villepinte, near Paris. What’s this? Kindof a convention without Klingons with a weird cultural excuse: « Japan Expo, in an effort to open itself to the world, tries to develop every culture from Japan, without proselytism or simplification, always striking a balance. » At least the Klingons got a real language, instead of « Iiiiiiiiihh, help me! Aaaaaaahhhh! Banzaiiiiiiiiii! »

When you read « film », you should translate Bioman not Takeshi Kitano.
And the part about « traditional culture » is hilarious: « From Origami stands to the unmissable kimono shows » and « Close to the Martial Arts space, you will be able to go on an imaginary trip to Japan, without Manga or Karaoke ! » . Convinced?
I don’t know if you’ve seen the many videos of the exhibition but the average age is pretty close to 15!
Unfortunately this disneyification of Japon is common outside of the archipelago and its goal seems to be the uncreative further dummification of teenagers.

Description : Blog avec mes histoires pas très sérieuses. Je suis l'auteur des textes, des illustrations et des photos (sauf mention contraire). Je suis également traductrice BD, littérature, ciné etc... pour l'allemand et l'anglais.

Hi Nath, I worked for a Japanese company for 14 years. I was one of the first 29 employees hired and that included the Japanese Staff from Japan. Most of them could only speak a little broken English and I new no Japanese language except for a few words like “Ohio” which means Hi in Japanese, I think. They are very friendly people and were fun to work with, we shared allot of ideas with each other and they were interested in what you had to say. They worked hard and smart, and afterwards played hard too. I was invited to go to Japan one time and turned it down; one of my regrets. Well to make a long story short, the company staff was Americanized over the 14 years. There were over 500 employees now, I was in the third faze out of the 300 layoffs.
Non il n’y a pas de mal à aimer des mangas (quoique…)
Ce qui me gène c’est qu’on essaie de présenter la Japan EXpo comme une expo de la culture japonaise qui est bien plus variée et complexe.

J’ai tenté modestement de faire remonter la moyenne d’âge, mais rien à faire, ils étaient trop nombreux !
Il ne faut pas stigmatiser la JE. La jeunesse présente était avide de culture manga, on lui donne de la culture manga, je ne vois pas où est le mal. Je ne suis pas sûr que les otakus tokyoites connaissent par coeur le bushido ou la cérémonie du thé.
Moi, je n’y suis allé que pour prendre des photos de cosplay, ce qui m’a permis de faire quand même six articles sur le sujet
