Le saumon ne se fume pas tout seul / Where there’s more smoke

Devinez qui j’ai rencontré le week-end dernier? Eh oui, l’homme à la cigarette. La rencontre avec l’acteur canadien était le seul point lumineux d’un mini salon (Paris Manga & Sci-Fi show) où la manga mania et sa crétinerie était à la fête porte de Versailles. Il faudra qu’on m’explique le rapport entre les mangas et la science-fiction. A priori aucun. Ou alors le nombrilisme parisien des organisateurs et leur incompréhension de la culture populaire et du potentiel subversif de la science-fiction (en contraste total avec le conservatisme infantilisant des mangas).

Guess who I met last weekend? The cigarette smoking man! The meeting with the Canadian actor was quite frankly the only bright moment during the mini convention (Paris Manga & Sci-Fi show), where the manga craze and its intrinsic stupidity were celebrated Porte de Versailles (Paris). Can someone explain the relationship between manga and science fiction? I see no relationship at all actually, at least no convincing one. Or maybe the common point here would be the self-centered Parisian organizers and their inability to understand popular culture and the subversive potential of science fiction (in stark contrast to the conservatism of mostly childish mangas).
